Call for Submissions / Applications
The Kerala Economic Association (KEA), in collaboration with the Department of Economics, Farook College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, and the Department of Economics, Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode, invites applications for a Five-Day National Workshop on “Cross-Sectional Unit-Level Data Analysis for Empirical Research”, to be held from 02–06 February 2026 at Farook College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, Kerala.
Designed as an intensive, hands-on training programme, the workshop aims to strengthen empirical research capabilities by familiarising participants with major Indian unit-level datasets, including the Indian Human Development Survey (IHDS), Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), and Time Use Survey (TUS). The programme adopts a progressive learning approach—beginning with data cleaning and extraction and advancing to data integration, analysis, visualisation, and reproducible research workflows using R Studio. Sessions are highly interactive and application-oriented, enabling participants to work directly with large-scale micro-data.
The workshop is intended for postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members in economics and related social science disciplines who are interested in applied empirical research and policy analysis. With a limited intake of 50 participants, the programme ensures focused mentoring and meaningful hands-on experience under the guidance of an eminent resource person with extensive academic and policy engagement.
